Day 6 - MGM and Epcot:

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah Tip of the Day

Check out the Next Trip tour channel and see Disney around the world. Plus our plans, fun at Fort Wilderness bus stops, and MGM.

Tip and MGM

First an adventure to the Contemporary

Before we went to MGM, I went to catch of view into Magic Kingdom and enjoyed a CM who has many years experience.

Contemporary

On the tram, the CM announced to get people to walking up to get on that they might want to hurry because the next tram didn't come for 45 minutes. As they laughed and got on, he then announced, "Welcome aboard! Sit back and enjoy the ride. We should reach the Disney MGM Studios main entrance some time on Tuesday." LOL! In the last year or so, we've been hearing more and more tram people having a good time, ever since Jen at MGM would do her 'subliminal' messages to get you to remember your parking spot. I'm glad they are because it starts off and ends your day on a fun note.

As we entered the park, some movie music I didn't recognize was playing, but the way it sounded.... John said, "That's nice of them to play stripper music to welcome you to Disney." Wink

One of the first things I always like to do in MGM is stop at the tip board. Not for the tips, but to see the new chalk drawings the CMs have added from the latest movie and for the different attractions. It's such a fun, little touch that adds something creative to the board and it's the only park that does it! In fact, I found out from a podcast that the MGM CMs were the ones who came up with the idea for a tip board and it spread to other parks. Good thinking on their part!

People at "One Man's Dream" speculated on who will replace Eisner in the film. Julie Andrews was the popular rumor (and since then, of course, she did replace Eisner), but I'd also like to see Roy Disney, Walt's nephew, do it. For the obvious reasons.

We see a maquette (small scale model) for one of the pirates in "One Man's Dream" that had no clothes sculpted with the figure for some reason. Of course, there was nothing offensive about it -- like a Barbie with no clothes, but to make John laugh, I cry out in mock outrage, "Naked pirates?! I thought Disney was a family park!"

Off to Epcot!

And the quest for food! After I get teased about a few obsessions. Wink

Epcot -- More Food & Wine Festival

Edgar Winter concert

We end a great trip with a special concert followed by Illuminations.

Edgar Winter concert at Epcot

When we were leaving Fort Wilderness to come to Epcot, I saw the Epcot bus about to leave. No matter how fast I ran, I couldn't get to it in time to ask the driver to wait. John teased me all night: "You know, if you had just thrown yourself under that bus to make it stop, we'd be in Epcot by now. But oh no, you wouldn't take one for the team." Wink

During this whole trip, I took advantage of a tip on a WDW forum. If my Pal Mickey had something informative to say about an area we were walking through, I held him up to the camcorder's microphone as I took video so Mickey's voice narrates the trip video! This worked especially nice at times like this as we entered the World Showcase and he explained a lot about it.

We ride El Rio Del Tiempo in the Mexico pavilion and have the whole boat to ourselves. As we glide past the restaurant and I take video of the pavilion (my favorite), John teases, that's it's nice that we have this romantic moment, all alone on the boat in the darkness, and I spend it taking pictures of people we don't even know.

After Illuminations, seeing me start to feel down about the trip being over, John bought a light up Mickey and waved it around, doing his own Tapestry of Nations parade to make me laugh.

We shot over for one last night at Adventurers Club and had a wonderful time. Every show had great energy and it was a good crowd. We've been here enough that, since the scripts don't change, we enjoy when the actors are obviously enjoying themselves and mixing it up or new actors come in to give it fresh energy. Such as the actor who plays Fletcher as an Indian. The Colonel was talking about Oktoberfest with another person and someone slipped and said "Oktoberbreast". That led to a whole show onto itself! The Colonel also did the "I have a monkey in my pants" where he shakes as a monkey call is played! When asked to sing the club song, he instead breaks into "Baby Got Back". So much fun! Another good way to end the trip.

But we do have to leave. Cry We go past Planet Hollywood and saw the Jenny boat which started the Forest Gump impersonations all over again.

Best Pal Mickey moment

When we left through International Gateway, my Mickey gave his, "Thanks for traveling around the world with me, pal. But all that traveling has made me a little tired." Then in that sweet sleepy voice, "Good night, pal." It was the last Pal Mickey moment for this trip. See, I do still love that little guy.

Trip Home:

I don't have a lot of notes for it, but I wanted to thank our Loop CM Gloria for coming to say goodbye to Morgan, whispering, "You make sure to visit me again. I'll be waiting." love
