Day 4 - Magic Kingdom:

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah Tip of the Day

Remember: Disney has plenty of chances letting you not ride if you don't want to.

Take the exit tip

Uh Oh, a Rant!

We ran into one too many stupid people and I blow up. You may want to skip this one. Wink

Stupid people rant

Oh those Golden Eared Tourists!

More time in Magic Kingdom, the Barber shop, our golden mouse ears, 50th Celebration, and what did they do with Ariel?

More MK

And even more MK!

Magic Kingdom with the Imagineer's Guide, then back to Downtown

More and more MK

And here's the details I missed in the audio!

We found out what it means when a Disney bus has "Mickey Mouse" for its destination on the sign: it's been chartered for a private event.

We decided to go full blown tourist dress today!! Mouse ears, Disney shirts and shorts, even my sneakers -- with my Disney bear backpack and Pal Mickey, we proudly sailed into Magic Kingdom! When we passed the darkened windows at the Space Mt. arcade, we laughed at our reflections and at how "inconspicously" we were dressed.

We get our picture taken by an official Disney photographer in our golden ears in front of the castle. The ears are a gift from my aunt; she got them in DisneyLand for us. So we wanted that photo for her. Our photographer was the greatest CM. We first thought she was going to complain about working here, because she has a bad commute when in her previous job, she traveled 10 minutes at most. Instead, she launched into how much she loves her work. Rain or shine, bad heat or cold, she loves being out there, being surrounded by 'magic' and getting to take people's photo of them enjoying it. It was such a pleasure meeting that kind of enthusiasm. As we were leaving, someone asked us directions and I pointed the right way. She joked and taught me the "official 2 finger CM point". What a sweetheart.

While we waited at Carousel of Progress, someone asked the CM how much longer before we could enter. Checking whatever clock, he "bravely" vowed he would not let his guests any longer. He grabbed hold of the doorway and pretended to push the whole ride! Of course, it moved to the next theater and we entered. It was a great show on his part and we all applaused, cheering on our Hercules!

I can't ride Carousel of Progress without leaning over to John and saying, "What scene is next?" so he can reply, "When the apes have taken over the planet!". I've loved this since he first told me this Planet of the Apes joke. It's a fun, inside-joke tradition.

No Sunny at Cosmic Ray's! Funny how I miss him.

As we ride the PeopleMover (TTA) and pass the model for the original Epcot, John whispers, "I hear they keep Walt's frozed body under there!"

Rounding out our Tomorrowland visit, I checked out the Tomorrowland phone. I always thought this was a non-working display! But after seeing it listed on the web as a hidden attraction, I wanted to check it out. I was surprised that each button has its own message instead of just one for the whole phone. My favorite was Sunny's agent.

Cutting through to Liberty Square, we rode Haunted Mansion next. I think I mentioned in another trip report that I get nervous as we walk through to the Doom Buggies and then in the Mansion hallway section of the ride. Years ago, in this same section, a CM hid inside the suit of armor and then chased our buggy, scaring the beejeezus out of me. I screamed like a little girl and fell to the floor of the buggy! Even though I sincerely laughed about it and it never happened again, I still get a nervous anticipation for it each time. John took advantage of this to scare me TWICE in the ride. I married this man?! big grin

John wants to see Hall of Presidents, but I have no interest. So he goes inside while I poke around the shops. When he gets out, the parade is passing right by us! Unfortunately, we also had some rude people right by us too. One guy shoves his family in front of us saying he has the right since he had kids, we don't, and Disney is for kids. Two women mock us for our tourist gear. These people obviously don't embrace Walt Disney's message of "To all who enter this happy place...."

On to Frontierland where the Imagineer's Guide makes Country Bears sound so good, we had to go see it. And it was fun to see this old favorite again.... and the details we had missed before.

When we take the bus to Downtown, it is packed to the gills. Literally, there wasn't room for an infant which meant a lot of us were standing. Because of that, the bus driver drove very SLOWLY, which aggravated a lot of people because we didn't know that was why he did it. Poor guy took a lot of abuse and here he was concerned for our safety.
